Hard fought win for Roses
The Roses were up against GNG for the third time this season, previous meetings were a 1-1 draw in a friendly and a 2-1 win at Rushey Fields in the league. This league game promised to be a tight affair based on that. The Roses welcomed back Sophie and Lyla but were without Lauren and Tilly for this match. After a good warm up and team talk, the Roses were ready to go at Ravenstone. We worked on a new formation, which would give us lots of bodies forward in attacking areas. W

Roses undone by Whetstone
Last time out lost 4-0, this time round, the same scoreline, the only difference was the weather. The Roses were without Lyla, Sophie and Lauren with Caris deputising in goal and we welcomed back both Chloe’s. A change of formation which in possession seemed to work well as at times we really used the ball in a positive way, it was great to see our passing game flourish in tight spaces. Despite us creating a few half chances, Whetstone took the lead capitalising on a mistake

A change in formation saw Scarlet partner Elcie in attack, with Sydney and Oliwia occupying the wide areas. Right from the kick off it was clear the Belles were playing with confidence and freedom taking an early lead. Scarlet raced onto a through ball to finish beyond the goalkeeper. Ellie grabs her hat-trick
An early kick off in South Derbyshire, the Roses were back in action after a week off during Easter facing Albert Village. The Roses were missing Lauren and our goalkeeper Lyla , otherwise everyone was available for the game. Caris pulled her gloves from retirement for the good of the team. The Roses started playing up the slightly sloping pitch and at times found themselves under pressure as the Tigermoths were looking to play inside the Roses half. A number of times we wo

Roses battle in the wind and rain
The Roses arrived at Whetstone Athletic for an afternoon kick-off with the bare eleven, a consequence of Easter Holidays, a later kick off and general unavailability. Whetstone currently top of the league and had only been defeated to the undefeated Ashby Ivanhoe so we knew it was going to be a tough game. We set out cautiously to try and pack the midfield and changed from our most recent formation to something new to accommodate availability in certain positions. The game st

A game of CHESS for the Belles
The Belles welcomed CHESS for a first ever meeting between the teams. The Belles were missing several players but welcomed back Sydney and recent signing Maisie . The game started with chances at both ends, the opposition struck a shot wide and then Elcie was tackled just as she was about to shoot. However the Belles did get their noses in front in excellent fashion. A driving run by Oliwia saw her clip a cross towards Scarlet . There was still lots to do but a fine loopin

Roses lose out to Nomads
The Roses were without Lily, Sophie, Kiri and Lauren against a strong side in Anstey Nomads where we put in our strongest performance of the season last time out. The game was pretty even which was reflected in the first half stalemate, both sides had chances but Lyla made some strong saves for the Roses as did her counterpart at the other end for the Nomads, our best chances came through Chloe G and Ellie who couldn’t find the back of the net on this occasion. Eliza returns for Belles
Fresh from reaching the county cup final last week, it was a return to league action for the Belles. A strong squad of 16 for the game with Eliza making her return from injury! Zoe started at right back, as Amie slotted in at left back. Ava H moved forward to left wing and on the opposite side Iris also started. With the swirling wind and pitch surface, it was clear that the football on show probably wasn't going to be fast flowing. That said the Belles started strong, as

The Roses return
After a lengthy six week lay off due to bad weather, cup rearranged fixtures and teams folding the Roses finally had a Sunday morning fixture. The Roses were without Esme , Lauren and Evie for the match and usually after a period without games the Roses struggle but in this match they started well, without instruction to, the team passed the ball well and looked dangerous in attack. Sophie made a good run forward with the ball and just as she did later in the game played a

ROSES RETURN
The Roses were back after a month off with Christmas break and bad weather meaning cancellations in January. Missing Evie through illness, the Roses had everyone else available for this match against Rugby Town, a contrast to last time we played when we were short on numbers and lost 5-1. A similar pattern to our previous game where Rugby started the stronger and the Roses were behind, 2 goals down inside the first ten minutes this time. The first a shot from outside the box
