Young Belles kept on their toes
For the second week running, the girls faced Narborough Foxes, a very strong team who certainly know how to keep us on our toes. The challenge was accepted with smiles and determination.
Starting at the back, we had Lola and Alice, who both put in brilliant performances. Alice, playing her very first match of the season with us, showed she's already a force to be reckoned with. Her strength in key defensive positions and her ability to drive the ball out from the back gave the team a real boost and caused plenty of headaches for the opposition. Lola was once again showcasing her pace, making excellent challenges and pushing the girls up the pitch whenever she had the chance. If speed had a postcode, Lola would definitely live there.
In midfield, our little pocket rocket Millie was absolutely everywhere. Intercepting balls from every angle imaginable, she worked tirelessly to break up play and create opportunities for our girls to move forward. I am fairly certain there were at least three of her on the pitch at one point.
Up front, Arabella was putting in some fantastic tackles that helped turn defence into attack. Her determination to win the ball back gave us some great attacking moments and kept the Foxes defence busy.
Between the sticks, Lexi continued to impress with another fantastic display in goal. She pulled off some great saves and, most importantly, showed growing confidence in using her hands. It's brilliant to see how much she is developing week by week.
On the bench, we had Hazel, Odette, and Florence, all watching closely, learning, and waiting for their opportunity.
When Hazel stepped onto the pitch, she was absolutely raring to go. The confidence she's gaining week after week is shining through, and she showed no hesitation in getting involved and making an impact.
Odette's understanding of the game was excellent today. Her decision-making and ability to find herself in the right positions helped create attacking opportunities, showing just how much she's learning and developing.
Florence once again showed her determination, working hard to win the ball and sprinting back to support her teammates on the back line whenever needed. Her commitment never goes unnoticed. week by week the girls are making fantastic progress in their confidence, teamwork, decision-making, and overall performance on the pitch. Today's match was another excellent example of just how far they have come. The effort, attitude, and support they showed one another were brilliant to see and every single one of them should be incredibly proud.
Most importantly, the girls never stopped encouraging each other, never stopped trying, and never stopped smiling... even when us coaches may have added a few extra grey hairs along the way!
A huge thank you to all of the parents as well. Your support from the sidelines, commitment to bringing the girls to training and matches, and constant encouragement make a massive difference. The girls' development wouldn't be possible without such a fantastic group of parents behind them. Whether you're cheering, transporting, washing muddy kits, or acting as part-time taxi drivers and snack providers, your support means the world to the team.
Well done, girls. Keep working hard, keep believing in yourselves, and keep enjoying your football. We're all incredibly proud of you!
A special mention and huge thank you to Meg for once again supplying the all-important post-match sweets 🍬🍭 As every football coach knows, recovery nutrition comes in many forms and today's selection certainly helped keep spirits high after another fantastic performance. We can't guarantee the sweets improved passing accuracy, but they definitely improved smiles all round.
