Positive display from the Belles
Our under 13s Belles travelled to Leicester Nirvana on Sunday for what turned out to be an end to end battle and a really positive display from the Bozzy girls.
As expected, Leicester got off to a strong start, but our girls did exactly what we asked of them at the start, playing with compactness, intensity out of possession, and being brave on the ball in transition.
In the early stages we were pressed in our own half, but with some resolute defending we managed to hold out which is testament to just how far the girls have come this season.
Eventually Leicester did break the deadlock, but it did not detract from just how well the girls were doing. They continued to grow into the game and caused our own problems.
As the half progress that confidence continued to grow, and it wasn’t long before we were having success of our own largely through creativity in the middle and getting the ball wide.
Leicester went two up, but we did have our own chances which was encouraging. It was not long before those chances were rewarded and we got back into the game with a great goal from Lilly from Abi holding the ball up, laid back to Eiperelle who passed it to Lilly for a well taken goal to make it 2-1. This was exactly the patterns of play we spoke about to stretch the opposition.
Our confidence continued to grow in the second half, and that was credit to the whole team who showed a tenacious attitude to compete. That growing confidence also resulted in bravery on the ball as we transitioned in attack creating multiple chances of our own. Those chances created a second with Abi also getting on the team sheet. In the final quarter we were right in the game at 4-2.
The game eventually finished 6v2 but that was only due to a late brace from the opposition in the final minute to pull away as the girls tired.
Our focus with these girls has always been on development and many of them are playing a year up. The scoreline certainly doesn’t reflect how well they did and every player should be proud of Sunday’s performance as it was a great game of football, a competitive display and something to build on in the games to come.
There are a couple of special mentions, but first of all that has got to go to the whole team for a great team performance. Scarlett continues to excel in defence and has progressed so much in a very short space of time involved in Football having only started playing this season. Her ability to close down the opposition and win her one 1v1 duals is a pleasure to watch.
Our midfield duo of Freya and Lilly helped to break up many opposition attacks and dominating in the middle for large spells. Their vision and skill to get us forward really helped us cause the opposition problems. In particularly, Lilly had a fantastic game. Her tenacity to win the ball and transitions at pace into attack was a real asset.
Abi had arguably her best game in a Bosworth shirt. Her strength up top helped secure the ball in the final third, often laying off to teammates to create overloads as well as getting in great positions herself to have opportunities in front of goal. Not only that she set the tone from the front with her defensive intensity.

Last and certainly not least our Player of the week had to go to Eiprile. Another one who probably had her best game in her Bosworth shirt today with her bravery and skill going forward very often got us on the front foot. Her positional awareness really gave us a point of attack going forward and she wasn’t afraid to get back and do some of the defending too. Well done Eiprile.
Keep believing girls, you are doing fantastic and progressing so quickly. With your continued commitment and dedication we are sure you will have lots more successes like today throughout the remainder of the season.
