The Roses return

After a lengthy six week lay off due to bad weather, cup rearranged fixtures and teams folding the Roses finally had a Sunday morning fixture.

The Roses were without Esme, Lauren and Evie for the match and usually after a period without games the Roses struggle but in this match they started well, without instruction to, the team passed the ball well and looked dangerous in attack. Sophie made a good run forward with the ball and just as she did later in the game played a smart through ball for Chloe G to run onto but an excellent recovery tackle was made by the Albert Village defender.

A similar move put Chloe G through on goal again and after some hesitance and confusion in the opposition defence, she placed the ball into an empty net. A deserved goal for Bosworth.

All credit to Albert Village as this seemed to spark them into life. Their striker was ok the end of a mistimed challenge an landed heavily, thankfully she returned to the pitch without injury. The Roses defence was hanging on to th clean sheet but their grip was lost when a cross from the right found the Albert Village attacker who finished really well with a little dinked finish past Lyla who was out quickly to narrow the angle. Probably the only lapse defensively in the whole game and we were punished for it.

Albert Village remained strong for the rest of the half, Katie, Lenna and Caris were standing upto task really well, supported by Kiri and Kayleigh in the wide positions.

Chloe G had another chance but she could only find the side netting and Ellie who was a real threat on the ball could only hit her effort wide.

In the second half it was a really even contest, two teams evenly matched battling it out to try and find the winning goal. Lyla was comfortable with everything she had to do, once again her handling was excellent.

Our midfield of Tilly and Lily was solid, protecting the defence and they rarely lost possession, finding passes to team mates, even in tight spaces, both girls found themselves in shooting positions towards the end of the game but couldn’t capitalise.

The Roses substitutes showed some green shoots of promise, Chloe B worked hard and looked more impactful on the ball, trying to find a player in blue and Beth showed some flashes of skill and ran with the ball with the opposition defence chasing her down.
