Belles showing positive signs but unable to tame the Foxes
A tough fixture for the girls against Loughborough Foxes, with plenty of learning opportunities and some really encouraging moments throughout the game.
Although the result didn't go our way, there were some positive signs of development, particularly as the game progressed. The girls showed resilience and continued to work hard, with the second half bringing a much-improved performance. We began to see more meaningful passing combinations, better movement off the ball and some excellent attacking play, creating opportunities through working together as a team.
There were two fantastic goals from Amalie and Eva, both well taken and rewards for some positive attacking play.
Today's Players of the Match were Freya and Eva, who both deserve huge credit for their performances. Freya was excellent throughout, consistently sweeping up defensively, providing support to the back line and then driving forwards with the ball to create opportunities for the team. Eva also produced a strong all-round performance, making an impact at both ends of the pitch and getting herself on the scoresheet.
A special mention also goes to Scarlett A, who has made incredible progress since starting with us in August. Her improvement, growing confidence and commitment to developing her game have been fantastic to see. She should be extremely proud of how far she has come.
There are certainly areas for us to continue working on, but equally there is plenty to be encouraged by. The way the girls responded, particularly in the second half, demonstrated the quality of football we can produce when we move the ball with purpose, support one another and play with confidence.
We take the positives, learn from the challenges and look forward to building on today's performance. Well done, girls! 💙⚽
