The Roses were without Lily, Sophie, Kiri and Lauren against a strong side in Anstey Nomads where we put in our strongest performance of the season last time out.
The game was pretty even which was reflected in the first half stalemate, both sides had chances but Lyla made some strong saves for the Roses as did her counterpart at the other end for the Nomads, our best chances came through Chloe G and Ellie who couldn’t find the back of the net on this occasion.
A worrying moment for the Roses as Kayleigh came off injured, thankfully she was okay, this gave Beth the chance and she did really well.
Defensively we were strong with Esme, Caris and Lenna doing well supported by Tilly holding the midfield. Katie and Evie both did solid jobs in the wide areas, both playing unfamiliar roles or sides of the pitch.
At half time, we knew we’d come under pressure second half. Nomads took the lead, a strike from outside the box bobbled awkwardly from the diving Lyla. Nomads scored a second and third shortly after with strikes from distance.
The Roses created a few chances second half but some strong saves from the Nomads keeper kept us out.
The game finished 3-0 to Anstey Nomads, on reflection it felt like a closer game than the scoreline suggested.

Chloe G and Lyla were awarded Players of the Match, Chloe worked incredibly hard all game, she played a deeper role than normal and Lyla had shown excellent handling in the game and despite having an issue with her knee played through some pain to keep goal for the Roses!
