The Roses travelled to Sileby nice and early for what was their final game of the season.
The Roses were without Sophie, Kayleigh, Lauren and Lyla however Lyla was able to watch and support the team.
The game got underway on a narrow pitch and it was pleasing to see the girls still trying to play football. The Roses took a 2 goal lead with both goals coming from Chloe G, the first goal she made a strong run down the left hand side and finish high into the roof of the net and then the second she capitalised on a good block from Chloe B who put in some good pressure on the defence and Chloe G capitalised and finished past the keeper 1v1.
Sileby pulled one back, a bit of hesitance to clear the ball and they capitalised with a close range finish.
The Roses had a few more opportunities at goal, the closest came through Katie who blazed one just over after she got in down the right side.
Second half and the Roses needed to sharpen up a little bit as for all of their good play on the ball Sileby were a little bit sharper off it and kept putting us under lots of pressure.
The Roses extended their lead through Ellie who got through on goal and placed it under the keeper into the centre of the goal.
However Sileby pulled one back with a powerful strike from their defender who moved into attack and smashed the ball into the roof of the net to make it 3-2. At this point the game was end to end, both teams attacking freely trying to score and it had very much an end of season feeling.
Caris made a really important save at 3-2 deflecting one wide with her foot and then we scored shortly after when Ellie cut in from the left side and finished calmly past the keeper to make it 4-2.
Our defence held strong at the end. Lenna and Esme were a formidable duo in the centre supported by Kiri who was really calm under pressure and Evie slotted in at right back, she played some good through balls and hit a free kick just wide.
In midfield Lily, Tilly, Katie and Ellie kept us ticking and Beth came in and showed some nice skill on the ball and determination to win tackles when out of possession.
In the final moments of the game, Tilly had two chances to score but couldn’t find that goal she is desperately trying to get and Chloe B had a shot blocked.

Player of the Match was awarded to Chloe B, she has shown real determination in the game trying to win the ball back and putting the opposition under pressure, she showed some nice intent with the ball, turning and passing to a team mate or turning and playing a through ball to our strikers. This was her best performance for the Roses and the recognition was well deserved.
