Four wins from four as AFC come roaring back to secure a convincing 4–1 victory and book their place in the next round of the League Cup.

Today’s fixture saw AFC Market Bosworth take on Lboro Korean in the first round of the League Cup, with the home side looking to continue their impressive winning run.

The game got underway with both sides, two of the youngest teams in the league, sizing each other up. Defences were on top early on, with neither team able to create a clear-cut opportunity.

Around the 20-minute mark, AFC registered their first attempt on goal, only to be denied by an excellent save from the visiting goalkeeper. Five minutes later, Bosie created another opportunity, but the in-form keeper was once again equal to the task.

Lboro then produced their first meaningful attack of the afternoon. With the ball breaking loose around the edge of the box, a spectacular strike was unleashed into the top-right corner. It was a finish that would not have looked out of place in the Premier League!

Half-time: AFC Market Bosworth 0–1 Lboro Korean

The half-time turnaround 💪

A positive and productive half-time team talk followed, with contributions from several players. It was a real demonstration of the progress this team is making, with everyone buying into the discussion, a clear plan established and a determination to execute it in the second half.

And execute it they certainly did!

The second half got underway, and immediately Rory, Dec and Owen took control of the midfield. The energy, power and determination on display were something to be proud of.

Within 10 minutes, Rees picked up the ball and danced past two or three defenders before rifling the equaliser into the roof of the net!

1–1. GAME ON!

Lboro tried to respond, but a reshuffled back line of Blake, Keith, Nat and Sam S, making his debut in men’s football, remained firmly in control. This left Gibbo between the sticks with a relatively relaxing afternoon behind a defence that was growing in confidence by the minute.

Rory puts Bosie in front! ⚽

Around 10 minutes later, the ever-busy James P fed the ball down the right to Alex R. Our eventual Player of the Match used his intelligence and footwork to outwit the defence before being brought down inside the box.

PENALTY!

Up stepped captain Rory H, who kept his composure to slot home and send AFC into a deserved lead.

AFC 2–1 Lboro Korean!

The goal took the wind out of the visitors’ sails, as a rampant Bosie side began to take complete control of the contest.

Bosie turn on the style 🔥

Just five minutes later, another dangerous inswinging corner from AFC caused chaos in the Lboro box. Nat rose highest and powered a header against the crossbar, but the mighty Mikel was first to react, side-footing the rebound home to extend the lead!

3–1 to Bosie!

With 15 minutes remaining, the in-form Market Bosworth boys showed no signs of letting up. Another corner came swinging into the box, and up stepped the man who knows exactly where the goal is: Dec G.

With a sniper-style finish, Dec put the finishing touch on a dominant second-half performance and sealed an emphatic victory for AFC.

FULL-TIME: AFC MARKET BOSWORTH 4–1 LBORO KOREAN

What a turnaround! 👏

From going in at half-time a goal down to producing a classy, dominant second-half display, this was a fantastic team performance.

Credit to every player for the response, the togetherness and the determination shown after the break. The quality of that half-time discussion was clear for all to see, with the lads coming out with a plan and delivering exactly what was needed.

A massive well done to everyone involved, and congratulations to Alex R on a thoroughly deserved Player of the Match performance!
