A game of CHESS for the Belles

The Belles welcomed CHESS for a first ever meeting between the teams. The Belles were missing several players but welcomed back Sydney and recent signing Maisie.

The game started with chances at both ends, the opposition struck a shot wide and then Elcie was tackled just as she was about to shoot. However the Belles did get their noses in front in excellent fashion. A driving run by Oliwia saw her clip a cross towards Scarlet. There was still lots to do but a fine looping header from her sailed in!

As the Belles pushed for another they were caught out and conceded an equaliser. The game continued to be a battle with the opposition's physicality and pace from midfield meaning that the Belles had to stand firm.

Sydney then drove into the box but the tackle on her was well timed by the defender.

A through ball from Darcy nearly got Caitlin away. Then an opposition counter saw Ava H stand strong to win the ball back in determined fashion. Ava H was playing in an unfamiliar position of left back but was fantastic throughout.

A galloping Darcy saw her win the ball from their pacy midfielder as halftime came, with the game perfectly in the balance.

The Belles began the second half in wonderful fashion, a brave Caitlin won a free kick. It was a long way out but Scarlet thumped a shot high into the top corner to regain the Belles lead! It was an incredible strike! With the Belles on the front foot a third soon followed. A break away saw Oliwia drive at the defence, cut inside of the defender and place a shot into the corner.

The opposition then put the Belles under pressure, a strong challenge by Lols stopped an attack and Lola C used her strength to regain possession. The Belles were working incredibly hard as the game really opened up.

Esme rushed off her line to clear and then Monica held off two players to set the Belles onto a counter attack. However the opposition got a goal back as their pressure paid off.

The Belles continued their hard work, with Elcie then going close and also Sydney striking wide. A cross from Maisie was cleared as both teams were throwing everything into the game. The final 10 minutes were frantic with further chances at either end. But the Belles closed the game out for another excellent 3 points!

It was such an entertaining game and it was great to see the Belles produce some quality football but also demonstrate their incredible work ethic.

Players of the Match - Scarlet & Ava

Players of the match went to Scarlet and Ava H. Scarlet bagged a brilliant brace with her free kick being absolutely incredible! Also Ava H who in an unfamiliar position, stood up to everything that was thrown at her as she defended fantastically well!
