Sonics made it just before the rain hit in! All children rotated and some into a few positions. The challenge to the Sonics today was simple, take a touch, head up drive when appropriate and release the ball to team mates to keep playing football, no long balls! With three new players debuting with the team today and an uphill run for the first half of the match, the game could have gone either way. The boys settled well as a team and to a lad played for each other. Ethan opened up the scoring with some fantastic foot work followed up by a long range goal. The final fixture of the U13s chapter saw AFC take on a strong St Nicholas Swifts side, known for moving the ball with confidence and composure. It proved to be a competitive and hard-fought encounter from start to finish. AFC were slow out of the blocks and struggled to find their rhythm early on, which allowed Swifts to capitalise and take the lead. As the first half progressed, however, AFC began to grow into the game, showing more intent and energy. Their efforts paid off

After a slight hiccup where one half of the pitch was a rounders field. The coaches were initially left ‘stumped’ but with cones down to mark out the lines the game went ahead. Both teams put in a great ‘innings’, every player ‘fielding’ an impressive performance. A friendly on Saturday for the Sonics and the team worked really well together, some passing that was fantastic to see and a hard work ethic to match. Many players played in a few positions and we welcomed Freddie into the team who settled in really well. A close encounter between well matched sides as the Blazers took on Coalville Robins on the astroturf. Both goalkeepers were on top form to keep the scoreline low and the drama high. The Dragons have had a very difficult season so far. Today they travelled to Nottingham to face Phoenix. We started slow and played with low confidence throughout the first half, we were second to the ball, gave too much space and made errors and we came in at half time 2-1 down after only having the one chance, one shot on goal. After 6 weeks with no game Bosworth faced Ruddington Yellow in their first game at Ravenstone since September. It took a while for the team to regain their rythm as they found themselves 2-0 down by half time. Some good passages of play showcased the usual talent as Bosworth threatened to get one back, but unfortunately Ruddington were clinical and able to get a third goal to end the match 3-0. Another week and another brilliant performance by the Blazers. Despite the final scoreline, the Blazers delivered one of their most impressive performances. From the first whistle, the team pressed with confidence, moved the ball around nicely, and showed fantastic teamwork in defence and attack to pressure the attackers and win the ball back. Every one of the Blazers worked hard for the full match, showing real character to keep their fans on the edge of the respect barrier!

An away trip saw AFC make the short journey to Atherstone to face a strong Atherstone Rangers Rapids, a side from the division above, who came into the match in excellent form. From the first whistle, both teams showed great intensity, battling hard for possession and creating early chances. AFC showed confidence going forward and were rewarded when they broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal. The momentum stayed with AFC, and just before the break they doubled their lead,

Cup game today and the sonics were a credit to themselves, didn’t come away the winners but came away a team that have bonded so well over the last few months and done themselves proud. Every single player worked hard today, with the first half being a credit to them all and playing some excellent team football. Tom had an excellently taken goal. The GK of David and defensive line of Louie , Freya and Max worked together and supported each other well throughout the game.
