Sonics had a cup game against a brilliant Atherstone team who have been strong against us all season, we had one sub so knew energy was required in bag fulls, and the sonics did not disappoint. From a warm up of are you listening can you do as asked, to a complete change of intensity second to none, teamwork in overload and listening as though they had heard the team talk!
From the off every player worked for the ball, we defended with purpose between George, Freya, Louie and William they were fantastic to win the ball, support each other and find players further up the field to attack the goal. In goal was the immense David who in the first half made some fantastic saves that kept us in the game, he and the defenders were also talking loads more which kept control at the back.
The midfield with Jenson, Max and others that supported, helped to defend but also distribute the ball to the wings or striker, with Jenson having a sublime assist for one of our goals by James.
The wings of Ben, mixed with William, Jack and Max worked extremely well, with the speed and skill of Ben seeing an excellent cross to allow Jack to score.
James and Jack also shared the striker role and James in the first half had a period of great intensity and off the ball work which saw his strength win through for his first goal, he followed that up with a second in the second half. Today was a pleasure to watch and I think the intensity and teamwork were what shone through throughout.

Player of the Match went to James for his first half striker role where he dominated up front, tussled for every ball and scored two goals.
