SONICS FIND THEIR RHYTHM

Away game today and in true Sonics style we were slow to start!

Eventually the boys and Freya found their rhythm and there was some lovely left hand side play between George, Leighton, Ben and Tom.

George had worked his socks off in the first half and got a goal to ensure we went in level at half time. David made some solid saves in the game and Louie, Freya, Leighton and Ben in defence were working as a defensive line to close down the play.

The opposition had a strong tall striker who predominantly Freya was making and supported by the boys, but when they were tightly marking this player they took more control of the game. The midfield of Tom and Jenson worked for each other and for the team, Tom tracked back a few times to help in defence and Jenson was releasing the ball to the wings, for his efforts he got two amazing ‘worldies’ the kids informed me!

On the right wing of Max W and Jack and striker of Max T and James they worked at great pace to run the wing or get into position in the box, they had some persistent attacks and connections with the midfield which allowed them to attck the goal, Jack was rewarded with a goal in the second half. Today for different reasons many players were in contention for player of the week but two took the accolade!

Tom was a work horse in the middle with fantastic energy throughout the game. What he was also doing was tracking back to help defend when the tricky striker tried to break free, but after that he was back up the pitch again working with the wings to attack the goal, and on goals he helped to set them up - a brilliant assist was noted!

The other well deserved player of the week was Ben, Ben returned this week from an injury and we were going to go slowly with him but in true Ben sure it was all or nothing and in defence he was straight to the ball, putting in clean tackles, working with his defensive line and at super speed tracking back to cover team mates, again his energy was immense!
