SONICS BRAVE THE WEATHER

What a WET and COLD game the sonics played! I think only the linesman today (Big Stu) was LOVING the weather… he was reminiscing on his youthful rugby days!
Today was a day for perseverance, resilience, teamwork, honesty to say I am cold can I be subbed and warm up and pure grit and determination! Today was also David’s birthday and between the sticks was cold and wet, what he had to do in terms of saves he did really well.
Ben went in goal in the second half and was in defence in the first, he was strong to make saves and play the ball. Leighton with some lovely feet, Freya with solid tackles, William with pure grit and speed were key defenders, they worked as a unit and never gave up!
Freya even attempted to get William to run around when not in possession… she did fail!! Tom, Jenson, James were mainly in the centre of the field and they worked hard to get to every ball first, dictate the play in such wet conditions and also attack the goal.
Wingers in George, Jake, Max T, Max W and Jack (some also played as striker) ran the line and gave everything, they delivered some brilliant crosses and never gave up.

Today however went to two players whose determination, skill and offloading of the ball were exceptional. George found his goal scoring feet for the season, not with one goal, not two but a hatrick and a never give up attitude. Jenson has started to really find his position in the centre and dictates the play and releases the ball exceptionally well, something the opposition coach mentioned to me, he also managed a hatrick for his hard efforts! George and Jenson well done, BUT also well done to every player that showed up and put up today.
Proud coaches and parents!
