Rapid response from the Bullets

An away trip saw AFC make the short journey to Atherstone to face a strong Atherstone Rangers Rapids, a side from the division above, who came into the match in excellent form.

From the first whistle, both teams showed great intensity, battling hard for possession and creating early chances. AFC showed confidence going forward and were rewarded when they broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal. The momentum stayed with AFC, and just before the break they doubled their lead, putting themselves in a strong position at half-time.

The second half brought more of the same, with both sides giving everything. It was end-to-end football, with strong defending and determined attacking play from both teams. Atherstone managed to pull a goal back, setting up a tense finish to the game.

In the final few minutes, Atherstone found an equaliser, bringing the match level and ending what had been a hard-fought contest.

A great team performance from AFC against very good opposition, showing determination, teamwork, and resilience throughout.

Player of the Match was awarded to the man between the sticks, Harry, following an outstanding performance in goal.

Harry delivered a commanding display throughout the game, showing confidence and authority in his area. When called upon, he produced some excellent saves to keep AFC in a strong position, reacting quickly and staying composed under pressure.

He was also sharp off his line, reading the game well to come and claim the ball when needed, helping to relieve pressure on the defence. His communication was excellent throughout, constantly organising his defenders and ensuring the team stayed well-structured.

A well-rounded and confident shift in goal from Harry, fully deserving of the Player of the Match award.
