A Great Start to the New Season!

Here we go again! The first home game of the new season and the first game in a new league saw the AFC Bullets welcome AFC Fradley Tornadoes.

From the moment the boys arrived, the excitement and enthusiasm was clear to see. The lads were buzzing during the warm-up and ready to get the new season underway.

From the first whistle, AFC set the tone and took control of the game. Fradley were an organised, hard-working side who made it difficult for AFC to find space, but the Bullets moved the ball around well and started creating opportunities.

Early in the first half, AFC created several chances, only to be denied by some worldie saves from the Fradley goalkeeper, who kept his team in the game. However, as the half progressed, AFC continued to apply pressure and were eventually rewarded with a flurry of goals.

Some excellent movement, fantastic footwork around the edge of the box and dangerous deliveries from crosses saw AFC find the back of the net and take a well-deserved lead into half-time.

At the break, the coaches made it clear that complacency could not creep in. The boys were asked to increase the tempo, move the ball quicker and continue putting pressure on the opposition.

The second half saw the Bullets do exactly that!

AFC moved the ball around with confidence, played some excellent football and really turned up the intensity. Whenever possession was lost, the boys hunted in packs to win the ball back, creating further opportunities and putting Fradley under constant pressure.

The goals continued to come, capping off an excellent team performance and a fantastic start to the new campaign.

A massive well done to all the boys. A brilliant first game in the new league, and an especially great start for our two new summer signings, who have already shown that they are going to add even more quality to this AFC side.

The coaches couldn't have asked for much more from the boys today — fantastic effort, excellent football and a great team performance from start to finish.

Player of the Match - Thomas

After today's performance, this was a tough decision with so many of the boys putting in excellent shifts, but the Player of the Match award goes to Thomas!

Playing out wide, Thomas produced a fantastic all-round display and was a constant problem for the Fradley defence from start to finish.

With 2 goals and 2 assists, Thomas made a huge contribution going forward, but it was much more than just his numbers. His confidence on the ball, excellent work rate and willingness to contribute both on and off the ball made him a real standout today.

He gave the opposition full-back an absolute nightmare all game, constantly looking to take his man on, create opportunities and make things happen.
