The Battle for Middle-Pitch
When you think of a football match between neighbouring teams, what fills your mind? Pride, passion, and a pitch (battlefield) filled with all the epic drama of a Lord of the Rings movie!
This was a match for the ages between the Blazers and Ibstock that had all of that and more, mirroring the great struggles of the Third Age. Both teams showed the fierce determination of Gondor and Rohan, battling hard to win the ball high up the pitch, and giving their all as if they were defending the very gates of the Citadel.
Both sides were relentless and created a bounty of goalscoring opportunities. We saw shots flying towards the top corner like volleys of Elven arrows, forcing both goalkeepers to stretch to their absolute limits - flinging themselves like desperate Guardians of the White Tower to keep the ball from reaching their goal.
View from the bench:
I’m proud of the boys, showing tremendous resilience to get to halftime all level. Second half we dug in, worked incredibly hard
Goalscorers - Wyatt and James.
Blazers of the Week - Wyatt and Daniel.

Daniel - At full stretch on a number of occasions to pull off top class saves. As always commanding of his penalty area, diving on the loose ball with no fear.
Wyatt - One of his goals what a finish, a screamer in the top corner. Throughout the game he took command of the middle of the pitch, offering an option for a pass at every opportunity.
Noah - He battled throughout, working hard to win the ball back and he makes the pass down the wing with superb accuracy and vision to find Blazers in space.
Freddie - Always on the move, never seen stood still for long. With the ball at his feet, no amount of defenders is a worry for him, always looking for the move past the defender.
James - Put in a tenacious performance. At no stage was he going to give up the ball for the team, whether that be in class marking and tackling, or moving forward cleverly with the ball.
Nathan - Has a quality in his control of the ball and a weight of pass that is played with vision about where is going to cause the most problems for opposition defenders.
Luca - Has perfected his spins and turns, he has the opposition in knots when he has the ball at his feet. Partnering up in defence he has a brilliant reading of the play and how to keep attacks out.
Chance - Battled throughout, never shying away from a challenge, whether that be to make it or evade one. A constant thorn for the defence with his sharp movement and passing.
Josh - With defenders closing in he shows no fear. Twisting, turning and making key passes to his teammates. Leading the line and the attack, finding pockets of space and giving an option to create a goalscoring opportunity.
Keep going Blazers!
