Sonics battle it out in the Cup
Definite cup battle today! End to end, opposition made it hard to score and parked the bus with 8 players on the goal line at times and for corners everyone was back. We did make it hard for ourselves at time going down the middle too much and not out to the wings enough. We went down one nil to a counter attack play in the first half.
George F with the near last kick of the first half scored to take it even into half time. Every sonic battled throughout from William, Freya and Freddie in defence working together and battling hard.
David in goal had a quieter game but when needed was on top of the ball.
Jack as striker battled throughout and responded to every ball.
The combination of George G and Jenson in the middle are forming a little bond and working for each other.
George F, James and Max played some quick balls on the wing, and their crosses into the box worked really well.
George F worked some magic in the second half and was awarded a penalty for his efforts.
Jenson stepped up to take the penalty and planted it into the bottom left corner to make it 2 v 1.
Special mention to William who from defence picked up a ball made it past numerous players to only have his shot saved by a fantastic goalkeeper moment.. I thought the de fib was needed for big Stu!
One player did battle throughout and listened to what coaches had asked of him, he also ran the wing at speed, tracked back when needed, crossed into the box when needed and that player was James! Well done today James and all of the Sonics!
