REES BAGS IMPRESSIVE HATRICK

Entering this season in the Leicester & Charnwood League at Division 1, is going to be a big challenge for the current county champions, but the Bosie boys are definitely up to the challenge.

The team has added 5 quality new signings to their current squad, along with a successful pre-season, this has really got the team firing on all cylinders.

AFC Market Bosworth Men’s team got their season underway against a well organised and established Ellistown FC with a very impressive victory.

This game got underway with both teams keeping things tight for the first 15 minutes. Ellistown went searching for an early goal but was always met by The Bosies enforcer Luke in goal. It was clear to see that Ellistown were constantly rattled and weary of Bosworth’s blistering front line. New signings Michael and Mahdi, constantly out thought and maneuvered the oppositions midfield that allowed Rees and Adeson to rip holes in the Ellistown defence.

At around 25 mins, a beautiful sweeping phase of play created by Bosworth that was started from the back line of new signings Kieron and Owen up to player of the match Declan and our dependable skipper Rory was class to watch. The ball finished on the right-hand side of the oppositions box, it was collected by Michael who cutely slotted the pass through to Rees for his first goal of the season and to put Bosie 1-0 up.

Ellistown just couldn’t cope with Bosies tenacity and if it wasn’t for their man of the match goalkeeper the score line would have been a lot higher than it was.

Michael going close and smashing one off the bar was just another notable chance. However, it was Adeson who floated a beautiful in swinging cross into the box, it was met with a “Paolo Di Canio” style scissor kick by our Rees and it ended with the ball smashed into the back of the net for his second goal. 2-0 and half time and a top-class first half performance from AFC.

The second half gets underway and Ellistown put Bosworth immediately under pressure. Within 7 minutes of the re-start Ellistown force an error and managed to pull back a goal. 2-1 game on.

Straight from the restart Bosie went on the attack and forced a corner. This resulted in a goal mouth scrabble and todays Player of the Match, Declan picked up a loose ball and calmly curled a top left finish to restore AFC’s two goal lead. 3-1.

This really knocked the wind out of the visitors sails and Bosie went on the rampage and worked Ellistown’s goalkeeper for the next 30 mins. A number of cracking saves pulled off by there POTM, but in the end a stunning pass through by Alex to a full sprinting Rees, who managed to finish calmly smashing the ball into the net to complete his very impressive hattrick. 4-1.
