BELLES WITH PRE-SEASON VICTORY

The Belles welcomed Sporting Markfield of the Central Warwickshire League for a friendly at Ravenstone. Ava H was away but the Belles had a strong squad of 15. The game started well with the Belles quick passing catching the eye. A strong Monica dispossessed their midfielder as the ball was worked out wide to Amie who struck a perfect first time shot in the corner. The Belles back three continue to impress, Lola's strength and composure saw her nearly create a chance for Eliza, then on the other side Lols intercepted to stop a counter attack.

Captain Caitlin broke forward and Elcie saw her shot go wide. However the Belles got another goal, Lols saw a long pass find Scarlet who calmly scored beyond the onrushing goalkeeper. A surging run from Iris nearly created an opportunity for Oliwia as the half time whistle went.

The second half started as we switched to a back four. Zoe went to right back and Eliza slotted in at left back. The Belles defence continued to hold firm, Ava S made a crucial tackle and up the opposite end Darcy struck a low shot wide.

The game was becoming end to end as the opposition tried to get back into the game. A looping cross was dealt brilliantly by Esme, then Eliza cleared up at the far post. Evie then played Amie down the left as she took two players on but her cross was cleared. Despite a couple of long range efforts the Belles were working tremendously hard for each other. We managed to close the game out and it was brilliant to see the team all collectively putting a shift in.

Players of the match went to Amie and Esme. Amie was fantastic at left wing back, she helped out defensively but also was a threat in attack. She scored a brilliant goal as well. Then to Esme whose handling was great, she dealt with everything the opposition tried and was a calming influence throughout the game!
