LIONESS SYDNEY IMPRESSES

Today the girls kicked off their 2nd league encounter of the season at home to Whetstone athletic, always a low scoring by game historically which has favoured Bozzy.

We challenged the girls to go out and managed the ball better to "play as you train" find feet and outcompete the opponents.

It was also a change information three defenders and two wingbacks.

The game got underway and the first five minutes were actually quite scrappy which suited Whetstone however going forward there was some slick pieces of play and we did t look troubled at the back but equally we looked dangerous going forward.

Isla providing electric threat upfront with Sydney playing a fake number nine/Ten role who was exploring pockets to affect the game.

The link up play from both Ruby and Katie on the flanks and the attacking midfielders Evie and Daisy was a pleasure to watch.

It didn't take long to get our rewards from a well joined up attack down the right, Katie finding Ava free with a cut back pass just on the edge of the area to hit a lovely curling shot into the top left hand corner. 1-0!

The half continued with Bosworth playing the best football of the season yet, we may have found a new system which suits us.

2-0 followed shortly it was a corner from the right, Syd providing a trademark delivery for it to be blocked, pleasingly Bosworth reacted first and with some neat footwork the ball found its way back out with Syd who provided an excellent driving cross and who was there! Our Lauren to hit home!

We changed things around halftime to allow more girls time in different areas of the pitch. Whetstone continued to be physical and were on the borderline in quite a few challenges.

Ava after a great performance in the back three covered in goal and Lois slotted in seemingly.

The second half didn't flow as well. Whetstone did have some large powerful attacking threat with pace and they made it to one with a great solo effort from the right hand side edge of the box.

It was a really enjoyable game to watch. The girls deserve the victory.

Lauren and Sydney

There were quite a few high-level performances today. Lauren was very good however Sydney took the trophy rise into the challenge playing in the middle and applying their attributes to impact the game.

Special mention to the girls that covered goal today. And also Millie for her first game on a Sunday.
