BELLES SUPERB IN FIRST LEAGUE GAME

The AFC U12s got underway in the league with a fantastic game played against a talented Cosby United’s U12s. Both teams embraced the spirit of football and tried to play the right way.

The girls started strongly by creating chances down the right wing putting a lot of pressure on their backline with their serious pace and strength. The back line was nice and sturdy keeping their strikers at bay, whilst cooly and calmly finding passes into our midfield maestros. It was great to see the girls be positive on the ball and executing some of the things they have worked on in training.

There was a lot of quality on show throughout. Very impressive to see the girls have been soaking up the information from training and are starting to implement some of these skills and principles into their game.

The girls battled with fortitude throughout the rest of the second half, against a talented Cosby side.

It’s hard to believe this was only the girls second ever match, let alone playing 9v9 and offsides. What a talented and brave group they are.

Players of the Match went to Ava and Scarlett. Both showed the strength in defence, but also their bravery on the ball to try and play out of trouble and tidy up Cosby’s threat.

After a tight first half Cosby came away with the 3 points winning 3-0. Plenty of potential and excitement with the Belles though and looking forward to seeing the season progress.
