Seven heaven for Bosie
AFC Market Bosworth 7-1 Leysom FC
Leicester & Charnwood — Game 2 | Season 2026/27
Sunday saw AFC Market Bosworth take to the field for their second game of the 2026/27 season, with the action getting underway at Ravenstone under beautiful sunshine.
With a number of players still away on holiday, celebrating birthdays, and a huge congratulations to our centre forward Mikael who was away on the birth of his second child - a beautiful baby girl - Bosie still managed to pull together a squad of 13 players.
The game got underway and, for the opening 20 minutes, it was a very even affair. Brand-new side Leysom FC certainly showed they were not here to make up the numbers, asking plenty of questions of the previous County Cup champions.
However, Bosie eventually found a way through. Making his debut, Luke E cooley kept his composure to slot the ball home and put the home side 1-0 up.
From the restart, Leysom immediately went hunting for an equaliser and, within just three minutes, they were rewarded with a well-taken goal to make it 1-1.
The boys were momentarily shell-shocked, but soon found their rhythm and began to open up the pitch. Some slick football followed, resulting in a flurry of corners. Eventually, the pressure paid off as Nat flung a leg at the ball and somehow managed to lob the Leysom keeper, putting Bosie back in front at 2-1 just before half time.
With the luxury of a couple of substitutes available, AFC came out for the second half in the mood to stamp their authority on the game.
Up popped Rees M, who found the net to make it 3-1.
Nat then followed up with a close-range volley to make it 4-1, before Alex R produced a brilliant sprint down the right and set up to slot home AFC’s 5th.
At 5-1, the floodgates were well and truly open.
Nat wasn’t finished either, completing his hat-trick and taking Bosie to 6-1.
To conclude the rampage, reserve keeper Max came on and absolutely obliterated a cracking penalty to round off a fantastic afternoon for AFC Market Bosworth.
Final score: AFC Market Bosworth 7-1 Leysom FC.
⭐ Player of the Match - Nat
Today’s Player of the Match goes to Nat, who takes his tally to an impressive four goals in two games this season.
A hugely impressive second-half performance proved to be the difference between the two sides. After a competitive opening 45 minutes, Bosie stepped up another gear after the break and showed exactly what they’re capable of.
The boys are now in great shape heading into next week’s away fixture, with a few more players expected to return to the squad.
Another big win. Another strong performance. Onto the next one! 💙⚽
