A winning start to the new campaign
AFC Market Bosworth 4–3 Burton FC
Leicester & Charnwood – Game 1
Sunday 27th September saw the opening game of the 2026–27 season, with the Bosie boys getting the campaign underway at our Ravenstone venue, with a real autumn feel in the air.
With a number of players still away on holiday, Bosie managed to field a full starting XI of 11 players and got the new season underway.
A big welcome back to our number 1, Gibo! 🧤
Returning following a season-long injury, it was fantastic to have Gibo back between the sticks — and even better to hear that familiar booming voice organising the back line throughout the match!
🔥 What a first half for Bosie!
The boys produced an excellent opening 45 minutes, taking a deserved 3–0 lead into half time.
The second half got underway and, after around 60 minutes, the lack of substitutions began to take its toll. Burton managed to pull a goal back, making it 3–1 with 30 minutes remaining.
But just five minutes later, Bosie produced a clinical fast break, calmly finishing to restore the three-goal advantage and make it 4–1, with 15 minutes still on the clock.
Burton FC refused to give up and continued pushing, eventually being rewarded with another goal in the 80th minute to make it 4–2.
With no substitutions available and the Bosie boys now under increasing pressure, Burton pushed hard for a way back into the game. With only seconds remaining, they managed to pull another goal back, making it 4–3.
However, straight from the restart, the official blew the final whistle! ⏱️

Blake produced a fantastic performance at the heart of the Bosie defence, displaying a very high standard throughout the game and always looking to get the ball down and play.
