Returning back home to Ravenstone, Bosie took on Beaumont in the last 16 of the “Stokes Cup” competition.
As mentioned during last week’s report, with Bosie being unbeaten at home since November 2024, this was always going to be a mountain to climb for Beaumont. Especially with the added desire of supporting Reuben S who is currently injured.
With Beaumont winning the toss and deciding to take the kicking off to get this tie underway, it was todays POTM Declan G who decided to set the tempo and charged down there pass back, collect the ball and as cool as can be, delivered a first class lob from about 35/38 yards out to put Bosie 1-0 up after 6/8 second’s from the start of the game. What a goal!
What a great start for Bosie. With a shell shocked Beaumont, Bosie went immediately on the attack for the next 15 mins and the busy Alex R, was very unlucky not to score.
With a solid back line playing high and well supported and managed by sweeper keeper Gibo, gave Bosie the chance to keep the pressure on and it wasn’t long before the busy Rees M, picked up a cracking assist from captain Rory H, cut inside and smashed Bosie into a well deserved 2-0 lead.
This really was an impressive first 25 mins for Bos, but a dogged Beaumont managed to
Pull one back against the run of play. 2-1
Even though the visitors managed to pull a goal back, it felt as though Bosie really had the visitors on the ropes and midfielders Charlie, Rory, Rue and Dec was just to powerful. 10 mins from half time, Nat broke there offside trap and picked up a beautifully floated pass, ran through and from about 25 yards out, calmly chipped the advancing keeper to put Bosie 3-1 up. Half time.
This really was an impressive first half for the home team, but a good second half was needed to advance through to the next round.
Bosie got the game underway and 10 mins in, the hard working Lewis ran hard at the opposition and was unlucky not to score.
Once again and against the run of play, Beaumont was awarded a debatable free kick on the edge of the box which resulted to pull back a second. 3-2.
Bosie simply put this set back behind them and went in the hunt for more goals. It wasn’t long before POTM Dec, floated another class ball over the top, for Nat to calmly chip his second goal over there advancing keeper and put Bosie into a 4-2 lead. (Carbon copy goal)
The game continued and the home team were unlucky not to score a further 2 or 3 before winning a corner 10 mins from the end.
Up stepped Ade to deliver a stunning in swinging corner to be meet by Blake H, who managed to bundle a fifth goal over the line. 5-2.
Well done team and we deservedly move into another quarter finals.
COYB boys!
