Bosworth At The Double

Bosworth At The Double

Chad Brindley20 May - 02:51

Bosworth have done the league and cup double as they did last season.

On a beautiful warm Saturday evening this tantalising cup final between the two best teams in the league got underway on a brand new 3G surface at Mill Street Recreation Ground in Nottingham.

League champions AFCMB were looking to complete the double, double for the second year running in the Nottingham Saturday league.

This affair got underway with a 7pm kickoff that was well supported by family, friends and girlfriends cheering Bosie along.

Both teams got out the blocks well and it was Breaston who decided to go straight into the red zone and press Bosies style of play. At times this gave the Bosie Ultras a nervy watch, but with a little encouragement from the coaches and supporters Bosie stuck to the game plan and continued to play the game that’s served them so well all season. Around the 20th minute Bosie won a corner. Captain Rue G stepped up and delivered a beautiful in-swinging corner that was met by the dynamic Frenchy who put Bosie 1-0 up.

Following this goal, expectation among the Bosie players was to settle them into there usual free flowing football. However, Breaston had other ideas and continued to push hard. eventually 5-8 minutes later they managed to break AFC’s back line and deservedly bought this game back to 1-1.

With a little head scratching and a below par midfield performance from AFC, new signing Will F was bought on in the 30th minute.

Immediately this gave Bosie a well disciplined holding midfielder that gave others the support and relief that was needed.

Will F worked really well with our ever dependable Tommo, Jack, Nat and Rue. With the hot conditions on the 3G, we could see Bosie start to ask more questions and with the introduction of Charlie W on the right wing, his blistering pace really paid dividends and got Bosie further up the pitch and a number of corners were won.

Both other attackers Ollie H and Tasker continued to weave there magic and on the 40th minute a miss placed pass was picked up by midfielder Will F who stepped passed a couple of tackles and from the edge of the box released a cracking shot into the bottom left corner to put AFC 1-2 up and half time arrived.

A great half time chat took place amongst coaches and players and Bosie returned to the pitch of play with a spring in there step.

The second half got underway.

Breaston immediately tried again to start in the Red Zone of play and put Bosie under pressure at the back. However, a solid second half performance from vice captain Harry T, Ollie W, “H,” Ollie E, Adam and today’s POTM Franky, was the platform needed.

Moving the ball across the back line with pace, just got Breaston chasing shadows. It wasn’t long before the conditions took there toll and Breaston started to encounter cramp amongst a number of there players.

The AFC midfielders stepped up there press and as one chased a number of passes down and in turn went on the attack. Slick passing, moving on and off the ball with purpose was just too much for the opposition. It wasn’t long before Ollie H slide Frenchy through for his second goal and on the 70th minute put Bosie 1-3 up.

The crowd going wild at times gave the AFC players even more confidence and on the 79th minute, Tommo broke through the midfield and from the edge of the box, cooly curled Bosie’s 4th goal in.

The final whistle was blown and Bosie completed there amazing double-double.

A massive well done to all players and supporters for this fantastic achievement. Let’s all be reminded exactly what this group are made up of. 6x under 16’s playing 2 years up and 10x remaining, playing one year up.

Winning promotion as champions, we look forward with excitement to next season.

For now we will enjoy our success and welcome a well deserved rest to recharge for next season.

Congratulations everyone and up the Bosie!
