Newley crowned league champions AFC Market Bosworth went into today’s semi final cup fixture brimming with confidence.
With the fixture being held at a neutral stadium along with league appointed officials, this semi final had the making of being a potential banana skin for AFC.
However, the Bosie boys had a different mind set to their opposition. Calm, composed but with a ruthless streak, was very impressive to see.
Straight from the kick off, AFC took complete control of this tie and with there usual passing game began pulling Hucknall around the 4G pitch and on many occasions chasing shadows.
Within 10 mins of the start, Ollie H flew down the left wing and beating 2 or 3 players delivered the most tantalising cross that was sweetly met by team captain Rue G to put Bosie 1-0 up.
Hucknall was totally stunned and just couldn’t get to grips with Bosworth passing game.
5 minutes later, Ollie H once again sprinted down the left and stud up another cracking cross that fell to the feet of Rue G, who slotted Bosworth into a dominating 2-0 lead.
The league champions just took this game in there stride and today’s POTM Tommo, really got hold of the midfield from the start to the finish of this game.
Traveling so well with the ball and always finding the right pass. Well supported by Jack and Nat gave Bosie the midfield power to dominate this match.
On the odd occasion Hucknall managed to break into AFC’s area only to be met by a Stubborn Max, Harry, Ollie W, Ollie E, Franky and a cracking performance from “H.”
Half time 2-0.
The second half gets underway and Bosie decide to step up a gear and close this game out.
Attack after attack, AFC put pressure on the opposition and around the 60th minute Rue G neatly put the lively Frenchy through on goal, who very neatly lobbed the advancing keeper to put Bosie 3-0 up.
With Charlie W, Alex and Will coming into the game, just kept the pressure on the opposition and forced Hucknall into a number of errors that resulted in a free kick being awarded just outside left of the box.
Up step Tasker!!
With A three man wall placed in front of the ball, along with a sarcastic word in his ear from there captain, resulted in a contender for goal of the season, as Tasker hit a rocket of a curler into the top right corner that got the crowd on there feet and put Bosie 4-0 up and marching into there second final running in two seasons.
A real big thank you to our travelling fans. The support you give the team is second to none and means the world to the lads.
Finally a massive big up to Reuben S who is currently injured. without your powerful game we wouldn’t have won our league or reached this final. You have been truly amazing all season and we can’t wait to get you back on the pitch.
Big congratulations to everyone at AFC. Yet another age group that’s won their respective league and reaching a cup final.
Let’s get the job done.
COYB boys!
