The tudors beat the Yorks in the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. On Saturday 16th March 2024, AFC Market Bosworth defeated “Pass Move Grin Engage” in the U16 semi final. Henry VII won that day but our player of the match, Jack W had soon taken the throne.
Playing at a neutral ground under the floodlights, AFC were raring to get stuck in. Both teams started strong, investigating each others tactics and formations. It was pass move grin engage who snuck the first goal in with a volley that hit the back post and went in. It didn’t take long for the boys in black and blue to bounce back, a well worked goal, starting from full back Ollie E, blistering his way up the pitch and a superb back heel from Charlie H at a near impossible angle. Half time struck upon bosworth and a strong inspirational speech from captain Rue G and Vice Captain Harry T, gave bosworth hope for the second half.
Bosworth went out in the second half with all guns a blazing, as Jack W made tackle after tackle in the middle, leaving the opposition shocked. It was only a matter of time until Bosworth scored again from another well worked goal, assisted by Striker Alex with Twinkle toed Frenchie slotting the ball into the bottom right.
Fitness soon kicked in for the opposition but Bosworth could run for days, as a third goal for bosworth starting from right back Rue G with tremendous tackles and fantastic passes, the whole crowd were wondering if Trent Alexander Arnold had strolled on the pitch. Charlie H struck this one with a significant bottom right finish.
With the opposition trying to get back into the game, Jack W and the fellow centre midfielders and defenders had none of it as they won the first and second ball every time, staying composed and using aggression in the right ways. Jack again made brilliant tackles and pitch perfect balls, doing a Ben White by rejecting Gareth Southgate’s call up for England to play for the Bosworth. We had then realised that he is our man of the match. The ref had blown the full time whistle and a 3-1 victory for AFC Bosworth. All around the team, every single player had a brilliant game. Our new keeper Max who was confident and composed in every situation that came at him, had a superb game supporting the Bosworth defence and playing comfortably from the back. On the other hand Bosworth have got into a well deserved final and celebrations had soon kicked in after the final whistle.
The club and the players would appreciate anybody coming along to support the boys on May 18th at Basford United at 3.30pm and watch the black and blue army lift a trophy.
