The boys turned up today to a cold, muddy pitch, with some key players missing, but they had faith to win the two matches at Stapenhill.
Game one kicked off, both teams looked cold and tired as no chances were created or scored, slowly first half became an end to end battle as the teams started to wake up, key defending by Harrison, Charley and Ethan F kept it goalless in the first half.
The second half kicked off and the tempo was up for both teams and it was a very physical game, until from a short corner the opposition crossed the ball in, it went past everyone including the goalkeeper ending the first game 1-0 to Stapenhill.
In between the two matches the boys shared some sweets and Kal tried to up the tempo as everyone was cold and miserable, so were the parents!
The second game kicked off and the boys hoped that it would be a different game more or less, but it was still a very physical fight but then Seb kicked the ball into the box and it thankfully hit the defenders arm, PENALTY and Jake stepped up to take and he shot it straight down the middle but unfortunately into the keepers gloves. Almost immediately after Jenson flicked the ball into the defenders arm, PENALTY again but this time Jenson stepped up and calmly placed it into the top right corner putting Bosworth in the lead.
The second half began with two lucky goals from Stapenhill which overall put the team’s morale down and Stapenhill battled all that half to keep the victory, which in the end they did.
In conclusion, it was cold and they were big and strong, it was very unlucky to lose both games but overall it was a good performance with honourable mentions going to: Seb with his Brazilian flair, Ethan F with his class defending and Luke with a great performance on his debut.
