It was a trip to Kirby Muxloe for the final game of the season, going into the weekend in a good vein of form coaches, players and parents alike we were very much looking forward to any waiting challenge.
After a late kickoff (due to a delay from the previous game ) it didn’t take long for the roses to settle in, with some good pressing, quick movement and a great finish from todays captain Summer it was 0-1. Summer found herself on the edge of the box to neatly slot home showing her composure. The roses continued to dominate in the first half as they have done in previous weeks with some good movement off the ball and great linkup play.
Maddie who terrorised Kirby all morning linking from Left back, making deep runs and terrorising with her left side teammate Daisy D who bravely drove at the Kirby defence, cutting in and slotting right of the goal to make it two.
The final 15 of the 1st half the Roses were impressively dominant, winning the midfield, moving the ball quickly into our areas of attacking threat down the flanks earning a corner. Honey floating an inviting corner through the goal mouth at head height which was just too much of a temptation for Daisy to neatly find the back of the net with a brave header. Something of a rare site from the girls this season.
The second half was a little more level. However, the game was truly in control from the Roses as the back line stood very solid with Lily and Katie and Ava, who slotted back in to the left back position due to an injury with Maddie (ice that ankle Maddie!).
The midfield continued to work hard and out class the Kirby team, both Izzy and Summer standing firm. Kirby had their moments and with a long ball and some scrambling around the area Kirby managed to get a goal. However, the roses standing firm with a couple of great moments from Lily in goal insured Bosworth took all points home on this fine warm spring morning.
Today was a pleasure for all & both coaches and parents went on to finish the weekend in good spirits.
Well done girls, keep making us and most importantly yourselves proud.
