Lionesses finally got back into action on Sunday after no football since early December. We welcomed a spirited Gresley to Ravenstone. Credit has to go to this incredible group that battled throughout, showed inspirational resilience and an attitude most teams could only dream of. Well done Gresley.
The Lionesses were eager for football and certainly did not play like they have had an extended break. We challenged the girls to play multiple positions, of which they responded to with great attitudes, football intelligence and commitment. The girls moved the ball well and brought some of their practice into the game which was a pleasure to see.
Axiom Ltd players of the match went to Aleeza and Elsie.
Aleeza had a hatful of goals but what was great to see was the lines she ran, her movement to affect play and some clinical composed finishing. Elsie had her own share of goals, but also should just why she had been brought into the 3 person leadership team, with her incredible workrate, central to several attacking plays but also committed to breaking up opposition attacks and quickly transitioning us forward.
The whole team put in a performance to be proud of and we now look to build into the second half of the season. Well done Lionesses on a dominant performance.
