Another Cup game for the Lionesses as they progress into the next round.

The Lionesses were back in action this morning against Coalville who joined us for a local derby in the last 16 of the cup. The rain gods were finally on our side, and it was great to see the girls of both teams doing the female game proud. It was a comfortable win for the Lionesses with goals shared between Daisy (3), Jess (4), Elsie (6), Immy (2), Eadie (3), Edie (1) and Phoebs (1). Once again it is great to see the depth the Lionesses possess as an attacking threat and their ability to move the ball across the park to create opportunities. There were positional changes in the second half that included Immy and Liv having a well earned rest in goal ready for tomorrows big game against Columbus United. What is great to see is the girls willing to sacrifice their own preferred position to enable Isla some time outfield or girls try different roles to support their development. Despite the changes, the girls maintained their shape, played some clinical free flowing passing football to build play and create space for goal scoring opportunities. All girls played a great part to help them progress into the quarter finals.

It was great to see Isla playing outfield. If she is not careful she could be challenging the usual defenders for their positions. Brave in her tackling and willing to drive forward with the ball and even got an assist. As a keeper it is important to be good with your feet and Isla demonstrated that again today with some great passing and composure on the ball. Well done Isla your bravery, attitude and performance earned you the PhD Architect and Central Coop player of the match.

Special mention also must go to Team Coalville today. The girls showed great attitudes, never gave up and certainly did not let the Lionesses have it all their own way today. We are certain the Coaches and parents will be proud of them and they are a credit to their club, well done Ravenettes.
