A good season for the Roses as we have improved technically as a team and individually.

Final game of the season for the Roses who were looking to finish on a positive performance. We arrived at Anstey with the rain looking to make an appearance and Coach Chad taking one straight from Steve Mclarens playbook of the Wally with a Brolley. We welcomed Hana for this game but we were missing Lenna, Hallie, Kayleigh and Poppy. We did our team talk, ten girls and two coaches trying to stay dry under one umbrella however the rain didn’t last long. The ask was clear, to enjoy the game and try to move the ball out wide.

Bosworth started brightly with Chloe looking lively upfront and Esme taking the ball on some strong runs, Chloe took the ball from her own half with one run and took it beyond the defence but the finish was lacking a good connection. We continued to probe and played some nice football, Ellie and Caris were linking up well with players around them, moments later both Chloe and Ellie struck the ball high with power but over the goal. Anstey looked dangerous in attack though so Lilia, Katie and Tilly had to be on their toes, a chance came but their striker dragged it wide of the goal.

Chloe got herself on the scoresheet as she headed the ball down and ran onto the ball to finish into the corner of the goal. One became two when some good work between Ellie and Caris led to Caris playing a pass back to Lily who struck a shot into the top corner from just outside the box. A brilliant finish from Lily, showing us all what she is capable of.

As the half went on, credit to Anstey who kept themselves in the game, some good pace down the right side but their shot hit the post however they finished on the rebound. Anstey caused us some problems defensively with their pace so Esme dropped into defence to help us out with her speed and determination which really secured us for the rest of the game. Katie made a couple good blocks and intelligent passes forward, it was good to see her bring the ball out of defence and set us on the attack, she does this so well.

Hana came onto the left wing for us and almost made an instant impact, she took the ball beyond the right sided defender but her finish went wide of the post.

At half time, we knew we were in a game but just needed to be a bit calmer in front of goal.

In the second half the Roses kept it tight at the back with some good defending from Lilia, Esme, Katie and Tilly and continued to test the Anstey defence with our attacks, Chloe and Ellie were making runs behind their back 3 whilst Hana was direct with her running down the right side. Chloe managed to get herself 3 additional goals in the second half and Ellie also got herself on the scoresheet.

After a brilliant season in goal, Lyla had a run outfield with Caris dropping into goal for the final 15 minutes. Jokingly a shout was heard from the touchline, if she scored her Dad would buy her those new trainers she wanted and it made an immediate impact as she diverted a shot goal-ward in at the near post.

The Roses were not finished as Ellie scored her goal of the season as she picked up the ball from some distance and hit a shot right into the top corner from about 25 yards, some goal and she could not hide her delight with it, a brilliant finish for her hatrick. Katie almost replicated it minutes later but her shot went just wide of the post.

All credit to Anstey despite the Roses pushing hard in the second half they continued to work hard themselves until the final whistle and scored right at the end with a powerful drive into the corner as the game finished 9-2.

Firstly, wishing the Anstey Nomad Swifts girls the best with their future teams as this was their last game together and thanks to their coach Ryan who is a top bloke! It was nice for them to nominate and clap Coach Rob as their linesman of the season for helping them through the game. For the Roses, as this was our last game of the season, we ended on a good note and in good form as we played some nice football in our last few games. Player of the Match was awarded to Ellie today, she played in a deeper position to normal but her all round play was excellent, making good decisions when to pass and when to dribble and it was so good to see her finish the season with what we know she is capable of.
