It was the county cup 2nd round, with the Belles of the yellow league welcoming Albert Village of the white league.

The Belles had a full squad available, with Captain Lois going into defence, Alice pushed into midfield and Iris starting on the right of midfield.

The Belles began well and were unlucky not to score within the first minute. Darcy dragged a shot wide and the goalkeeper made a few good saves. Some excellent work from Scarlet on the left saw a low cross find Iris at the far post and she finished well. It was again going to be a positive morning of football for the in form Iris.

Caitlin nearly added a second and Scarlet then had a goal ruled out for offside. Despite this Scarlet did get her goal, again the Belles play out wide was excellent and Scarlet was played through on goal. There was still plenty to do but she finished calmly with a low shot into the corner.

A third goal followed, some neat passing in the middle saw Alice prod the ball through to Ffion who lashed the ball into the roof of the net. Darcy then got to the ball before the goalkeeper and rolled a pass across the box for Oliwia to tap home. It was excellent to see Oliwia get on the score sheet and her quality on the ball throughout the game was outstanding.

Another strong run on the left by Scarlet saw her cross met by Freya who fired just wide as the Belles attacking play was brilliant at times.

The opposition goalkeeper was having a good game and made a save from Caitlin and then Iris. Defensively the Belles were looking solid, Monica tracked back but also had the confidence to shield the ball under pressure and send the Belles on another attack. Lola's passing was another plus to the Belles attack as her ball over the top nearly saw the Belles get another goal. Ffion did grab her second then completed her hat trick as she went into double figures for the season already.

At halftime we moved Lois into midfield and moved Lola to centre of defence. The second half began well for the Belles, the nimble footed Freya jinked past a couple of players and fired a low shot beyond the goalkeeper.

Further efforts from Darcy, Caitlin and Lois were thwarted by the opposition goalkeeper. However a second goal of the game came for Oliwia, who ran through and cooly slotted left footed by the goalkeeper. A strong run past 3 players from an energetic Ava nearly presented her with a chance as the Belles were continuing to keep the ball well. Iris was flying up the right at every opportunity and it was really amazing to see her continue this fantastic form that she's in.

Ffion grabbed her fourth as she slotted low by the goalkeeper, to continue her impressive season as a Belle.

A penalty was awarded after the opposition defender handballed. Chloe was the first to volunteer to take it. Up she stepped and she smashed the ball high past the goalkeeper for her first goal of the season! Another change saw Ava push upfront. A corner was whipped in by Scarlet and volleyed emphatically in by Ava. Scarlet's corners were brilliant all game and it's so pleasing to see one of them converted by Ava, who already has 3 goals this season now.

The Full time whistle went and the Belles were pleased with their display. Also happy with a clean sheet for Esme as we looked really confident in possession. It's something the girls have been working hard on in training for a few weeks now and we are started to see it transfer into the games consistently now. Lots of positives from the game, Ffion with 4 goals, Scarlet with another goal and her wing play was really productive. The defence looked solid and the midfield controlled the game well.

Players of the match went to Iris, for another goal and a fabulous performance on the right of midfield. Also to Oliwia, who was quality all game and grabbed 2 goals!

Well done girls and Well done Belles, as we march into the third round of the county cup!
