Super Saves from Sid as the Vets move into the Semi Finals of the Gerry Cooper Memorial Shield!

The boys was informed that todays match was being played at a different venue and it soon become apparent that there was no shower facilities or changing rooms which straight away upset the Griffo and Scott as we need time to prepare with the muscle rubs, ibuprofen and any other painkilling substances we can have.

Anyway after plenty of discussions by head coach Eddy and the boys it was decided that we will get changed in the home dugout next to the pitch and the opposition will get changed in the away dugout which by chance had no bench or seating.

The boys were desperate for music and then DJ White rocks up with a boom box only the emporium could match blasting the teams anthem “Cherie Cherie lady!”

Eddy the boss then went through the pre-match stats and discussion that got us all in the mood, in the mean time Griffo was knocking out pain killers to his fellow team mates, at the end of a long season and with aging legs, it’s hard to get through the games.

The match started with Kibworth starting the better and in fairness probably had the best of the first 20 minutes with the Bosworth boys finding their feet.

Robinho in his pink boots was drafted in to right back but from a glimpse was like a young Kyle Walker and Carl at left back the new Denis Irwin whilst Griffo and Jono soon got to grips of the game, after recently seeing leaked videos of the two dancing it was surprising it took them a while to get moving. Player of the Match Sid was brilliant with his ball handling skills and had a good game in goal as well.

The game progressed with some strong play by Juggy up front and some individual brilliance from a lively Sammon.

Bozzy got themselves in front, Juggy went through on goal and rounded the goalkeeper to score. Further chances followed as Hutch just couldn't lob the goalkeeper then Juggy saw a shot saved. However Bozzy went into halftime 1-0 up. The game was showing signs of getting nasty as Griff suggested "there's something in the water over there place they are all mardy" but we went back out as Chris came on in midfield.

Bozzy started the second half well and added a goal. Scotty collected a poor clearance from their defender and ran through to square to Chris who tapped home.

On the balance of play it was well deserved as Bozzy were getting a strong foothold in the game. Hutch and Scotty were working hard, with Hutch literally playing on one leg most of the second half as Bozzy continued to threaten.

Despite this, a lack of communication saw the opposition claw a goal back and Bozzy had to compose themselves. Robinho was sent flying and nearly collided with the advertisement hoardings then little Carl out muscled a guy who was 4 times his size.

Despite the good football on show it was also pleasing to see that Bozzy can mix it up if needed. Stu nearly played Danny through and there was still time for Stephens to get in a scuffle in the penalty box. Somehow there was no penalty with the defender grappling with Stephens for a good few minutes after the ball went out of play. Another defender that won't be sending Stephens a Christmas card!

Bozzy continued to dig in and saw the game out, as we head into the semi finals! A proper team performance from everyone, we had a couple of players missing but shows the determination of the squad to get the job done. Big mention to Sid Vicious for a couple of wonderful saves in a POTM display.

As we all got changed in the dugout with the tunes on full blast, we headed towards the cars only to remember we needed to take the nets down. The excitement clearly got to us!

A note from Manager Steve Edwardiola!

On what has been a really positive season so far, there are so many pleasing points from the football played, enthusiasm and determination. However the most important attribute any team can have is togetherness as this can drag you to betterment and the boys have this in high measures. Congratulations to all the boys so far on a great effort and result.
