A good win for the Vets as they progressed into the next round of the memorial cup.

A 3G surface saw the Vets legs already creaking at the thought of it. With Eddy, Dan, Little Carl and crazy eyes Jono away on a stag do. It was left to the 'dynamic' duo of Griff and Scotty to oversee proceedings. Griff plastered himself in Vicks, Muscle rub, Vaseline and brute, then dropped his tablets everywhere, as he was branded 'The Pharmacy'

With only 12 players available against a team that are a couple of divisions up, the Vets knew they had to be at their best. We went with wing backs much to the glee of Robinho and Matty who had the thankless task of occupying the roles.

Bozzy ball was in full flow for the first 15 mins, but we lost Craig to an injury which meant Dicko went to defence and Stu sat in midfield. Robinho went close, then wrecking ball Stephens went through, he rounded the goalkeeper but the ball just ran out of play. Scotty let fly from distance but the goalkeeper parried, with Robinho lurking for the rebound.

A ball up to Sammon saw the centre half bulldoze him over as Sammon lay on the floor in a crumpled heap. The first half ended as the Vets regrouped, gathered their thoughts and reset.

The second half started well, Stephens who again was making lots of friends was tripped in the area and was awarded a penalty. He stepped up, took an absolute age to hit it, but did send the goalkeeper the wrong way to score.

Griff then chested a high ball, the noise thundered around the 3G, but Griff wasn't finished there. He looped the ball over the forward and went on a Denis Irwin type run. However it ended as a Steve Irwin run as he toe poked the ball out of play.

Hutch was buzzing about getting his Kilometers in, as Stu also seen a shot go over. Oadby got level as Syd Vicious parried a shot which was dispatched by the bald forward who was rocking a pair of Adidas sambas all game.

It was a tough one for the Vets but then more glimpses of Bozzy ball followed, Matty went close, then Dicko flew forward but his shot deflected wide. Sammon was dropping in and causing agro for their defence, as the Vets nudged themselves in front.

Robinho pressed high and played a pass to Stephens who fired in low. Robinho saw another shot fly over, then Scotty went on a run but the ball went out of play. It wasn't over as their defender decided to get very close to him but that should teach Scotty for spraying Lynx Africa before the game.

Hutch was continuing to get around the pitch well as the communication massively improved as the Vets decided to close the game out. There was still time for a routine foul throw from Robinho, a huge Caravan tackle and then Scotty decided to block a quick free kick attempt. Shouts of 't*sser' followed which got Scotty licking his lips thinking about his favourite pancake combination of sugar and lemon juice.

The Vets saw the game out and a huge win for the team. With so many lads missing, everyone stepped up and it was an unbelievable collective effort.

Well done to all the lads and player of the match Robinho. He decided to wear the pink boots and could of had a double hat trick but he was a constant threat down the left

Well done boys, rest up and we hope the boys have got on ok at the stag do!
